Amit Shah: Make Madhavbaug a centre for dharma and health

Union Home Minister Amit Shah , accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, attended the 150th anniversary celebration of Laxminarayan temple at Madhavbaug complex in Mumbai on Tuesday. 

Speaking on the occasion, Shah recalled his personal connection with the temple. He shared, “I was born and raised in Mumbai, and I’ve had the privilege of attending the aarti at the temple many times. My three sisters were married at Madhavbaug, a place that holds deep emotional significance for our family. The murti of Laxminarayan is etched in my memory from childhood, something I’ve grown up seeing with reverence."

During his public address he highlighted the contribution of the founders, stating, "It is only because of the vision and dedication of those who invested in the temple in earlier times that we are still able to continue these traditions so beautifully today."

He also proposed a future vision to develop it into a centre that serves both dharma (spiritual and cultural values) and aarogya (health and well-being).
He also emphasised on his vision to promote the use of mother tongue, developing learning centres for sacred texts like Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads, established Sanjeevani Kendra for health and wellness, and creating a Madhav Sanskriti Kendra to celebrate and nurture cultural roots. "These ideas can help the space evolve into a vibrant community hub. I hope the trustees of Madhavbaug consider this vision and explore its possibilities for the future," Shah added.

Shah performed the traditional Aarti during the 150th anniversary celebrations of the historic temple.

He also highlighted that Narendra Modi `s 11-year reign will be written in golden letters in history. He said, “ Modi has completed 11 years as the prime minister. The son of Gujarat is committed to the nation`s development, economic growth and national security. Those who violated national security have been taught a lesson," 

Post his visit to the temple, Amit Shah will be delivering a lecture on the 60th death anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, at the Sir Cowasji Jehangir Hall, Mumbai University. This lecture will highlight the government’s commitment to national security and stand against terrorism, in the recent context of ‘Operation Sindoor.’

In light of the state preparing for upcoming civic body elections, the visit of Amit Shah is important. His involvement with the public states as a strategic move to promote the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state of Maharashtra.
