Mumbai weather updates: Light to moderate rainfall likely today

The city is expected to witness a partly cloudy sky today, with occasional light to moderate spells of rain likely across Mumbai and its suburbs, according to the latest Mumbai weather updates from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD`s Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday. Meanwhile, the Colaba observatory reported a high of 32.4 degrees Celsius and a low of 27.8 degrees Celsius, as per the latest Mumbai weather updates.
During the 24-hour period from 8:00 AM on May 29 to 8:00 AM on May 30, the city recorded minimal rainfall. The island city received 0.01 mm of rain, the eastern suburbs registered 0.17 mm, while the western suburbs recorded slightly more at 0.63 mm.
Tidal activity for the day includes a high tide at 2:42 PM reaching 4.64 meters. Another high tide is expected early tomorrow, at 2:21 AM, rising to 3.86 meters. The low tide today will occur at 8:51 PM with a level of 1.64 meters, followed by another low tide tomorrow morning at 8:20 AM, measuring 0.79 meters.
Meanwhile, sixteen persons have died in Maharashtra over the last five days in rain-related incidents such as landslides, lightning, tree or structure collapse, a state government report informed on Thursday.
Maharashtra witnessed heavy rains from May 24 as the monsoon made its onset early this year. Almost all regions of the state were affected due to heavy rains.
Pune district recorded three deaths, followed by two each in Thane, Latur and Bhandara, while one death each took place in Raigad, Ahilyanagar, Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Mumbai suburban and Gondia districts, the report said.
Besides, 18 persons were injured in rain-related incidents since May 24, it said.
The report also said 41 animals died in extreme weather incidents in the state.
It said teams of the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been stationed in different parts of Maharashtra.
According to the state government, the coastal districts of Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri received 511 mm and 502 mm of rainfall, respectively, from May 24-28.
Raigad received 132 mm of rainfall, Thane 132 mm, Ahilyanagar 215 mm and Pune 267 mm, it added.
